Fountains of St Mark Author to Speak, Paintings to be Featured June 22

Award-winning filmmaker, photographer and author Ron Coley will speak about his new book, “The Fountains of Saint Mark” at the Price Center in downtown San Marcos on Wed., June 22 from 3-6 p.m.

Coley, who is well known to the San Marcos community for his life-long love for, and support of, the San Marcos Springs, will share stories about his experience writing and producing the gorgeously printed, museum quality, large-format book that features more than 100 full-page photographs and eight original paintings. Eight essays serve as the narrative that takes the reader on an up close and personal aquatic adventure in living color, including eight original oil paintings by the author’s wife, Janet Skaggs Hardin.

The book has already received much acclaim, including this most recent comment sent to Coley by Sylvia Earle, National Geographic explorer-in-residence. “Deepest thanks for your beautiful book -- and for all you are doing to celebrate and protect the glorious fresh water springs and rivers of Texas -- and the waters of the world. The San Marcos Springs is one of the wonders of the world and you have captured its essence masterfully.”

Coley and his wife will be available to visit with you in the Center’s Tea Room from 3-6 p.m. Some of Janet’s paintings from the book will also be on display. Admission is free and light refreshments will be served.
