Shop 1893, the unique downtown resale shop located inside the Price Center, is celebrating its fourth anniversary with a month-long Customer Appreciation Sale throughout July. As a gesture of thanks, the Shop is offering all Price Center* (PC) marked merchandise at 25% off throughout July. Certain merchandise is discounted by 50% to 75%. Moreover, various vendors from the Shop's collection of three dozen will be offering discounts at their booths throughout the month. The Shop will also be serving cookies and punch every Saturday for the month as part of the celebration.
Since the summer of 2021, the Shop has become a destination attraction for locals and visitors alike. The increased exposure from all the walk-in traffic has helped generate more awareness and revenue for the non-profit community center’s overall operation.
“My favorite thing about the Shop is seeing the smiles on people’s faces when they connect with someone or something,” said San Verret, one of the Shop’s earliest vendors and current manager. “It’s pure joy and I feel blessed to be a part of their day,” she added.
Resale as a fundraising model expanded at the Center in 2023 with the addition of the 1893 Flea, a monthly market that takes place inside and outside the Center on the second Saturday of each month. The Flea celebrated its second anniversary earlier this month.
“I love all the wonderful people to talk to and all the amazing things to see and dream about,” said Margaret Adie, a local artist and long-time vendor. “A walk-through sparks the imagination to the possibilities of different ways to see your world,” she added.
The original, two-story, 132-year-old chapel provides a stunning backdrop to the eclectic Shop 1893, which opened during the economic downturn caused by COVID-19 closures and protocols. Shop 1893 is open Wed – Fri, noon-5, and Saturdays 10-3.
Whether you’re looking to buy, or simply take a trip down memory lane, Shop 1893 does not disappoint. Proceeds from Shop sales and all donated items go directly to help operate and maintain the Price Center & Garden. Donated items of all types are always welcome!
