REFLECTIONS OF THE SPRINGS SET FOR SEPT 19 AT PRICE CENTER
Kicking off their 2021-22 season the Aquarena Springs Symphonic Band (ASSB) will join the Mermaid Festivities this month with an aquatic-themed concert on Sunday, Sept. 19th in the beautiful 1910 Room at the Price Center & Garden in downtown San Marcos. Reflections of the Springs, an ode to our Sacred Springs, will beginning at 5:00 p.m.. As with the previous two ASSB concerts at the Center, the performance is open to the public. Seating is limited and reservations are suggested.
Reflections of the Springs will consider several aspects of our city’s famous springs through music. Beginning with its creation, inhabitants, and recreational qualities, there will be selections performed inspiring reflections of the springs. Those listening will be moved to wonder, reminisce, relax and response to the waters existence today. Whether know as Spring Lake or Aquarena Springs, or the headwaters of the San Marcos River, the magnificent beauty of the source has provided, sustained, entertained and remains a constant for all to enjoy.
The thirty-five-piece wind ensemble comprised of volunteer musicians, rehearses every Thursday, 7-8:30PM at First Baptist Church, San Marcos. Wind and percussion players age 18 to 83 make up the group membership. New musicians from San Marcos and beyond are encouraged to dust off those old high school or college instruments and join in the fun. The band also welcomes area high school students (ages 16 and up) to become a part of San Marcos’s first ever community band.
