New Pollinator Garden Effort Needs Large Pots, Art

The Price Center’s chief gardener and volunteer extraordinaire Dianne Wassenich has collaborated with other local volunteers and the San Marcos Discovery Center to plant a new pollinator garden on the Comanche side of the Price Center property.

As part of the garden improvement effort, the Center is also seeking donations of larger terracotta, ceramic, and/or cement planters (3 gallon or larger) and larger garden art to incorporate into the new and existing garden spaces. If you have any extra planters or yard art and would like to donate them to the effort, please call or stop by the Center. We can even pick things up.

People and Paper: Using Collage to Enhance Creativity and Relationships Coming Jan. 22 & 29

This class, led by local artist Lou Stein, is for creatives who love to work with paper and people. First, we will talk about the basics of collage. Then each person will choose 6 to 10 different pieces of paper to fit a 5” x 7” finished work. These will be exchanged with another person in the class. You will then make a collage with the paper given to you by that person. The first two sessions are scheduled for January 22 and January 29, both from 2 to 4pm. Additional sessions may be arranged if there is enough interest.  Regardless, you will have the opportunity to swap several times.

The Price Center has a large supply of paper, scissors, and glue sticks. Feel free to bring any supplies you would like to use in addition to what is available. (Donations of supplies are always welcome for our community art closet.)

Suggestions for more successful outcomes:

·        some collage experience

·        a small book about 5” x 7” attainable on art supply sites or a notebook about the same size

·        a willingness to play well with others

For questions contact Lou Stein at ninastein911@gmail.com.
