New Front Steps Mosaic Dedication Set for June 25

Members of the San Marcos Arts Commission, other city officials, mosaic artist Carmen Rangel, and representatives of the Price Center will gather by the new mosaic on the front steps of the Price Center at 10 am on June 25 for the official dedication of the new public art installation. Brief remarks, photos, and a chance to meet the artist are among the highlights. The public is encouraged to join in!   

The new front steps mosaic at the Price Center was commissioned by the San Marcos Arts Commission as part of its ongoing public arts efforts.

“We started a dialogue with the Arts Commission a few years ago years ago and I wasn’t completely sure where it was going. In fact, I postponed my retirement to make sure I was still here to help facilitate the installation of the mosaic,” said Clay DeStefano, executive director. 

“I’m blown away at how beautiful and transformative the mosaic is," he added. “I love how it unites all our public art — from the murals to the mermaid and all the other artwork throughout the garden."
