FEBRUARY CALENDAR FILLED WITH ACTVITIES AT PRICE CENTER

February may be a short month, but at the Price Center, it is action packed. In addition to several private venue rentals, we have a full schedule of public happenings were hosting for the month. Here’s a quick look:


FIRST TUESDAY SMTX FILM SERIES Feature Dance Hall Days

Dance halls were once as common as cattle in Texas. Now, they exist in a time where their past is legend and future uncertain. Feature documentary Dance Hall Days showcases a cast of iconic characters striving to keep these legendary venues alive, while one man fights to make sure that not one more is lost to history. Featuring Texas’s best dance floors and beer joints with unique archives. RT: 72min.

And So The Story Begins Art Reception Set for Feb. 7

Join us Feb. 7 from 6-8 p.m. for the Public Reception for our newest gallery show: And So The Story Begins. Enjoy more than 70 works in this delightful new exhibit, light refreshments, live music, and a chance to chat with many of the displaying artists.

Free, open to all. 

 

 

1893 Flea Returns Feb. 10

Join us before or after the Mardi Gras Parade on Saturday, Feb 10 from 10-3 for our unique, monthly market. An eclectic mix of 2-dozen or more vendors set up inside and outside the Center for this fun and funky market. A limited number of $20 Booth Spaces are still available. Call 512-618-2071 to reserve a spot.

 


Aging Well Workshop Take II Returns Feb. 16

The Faculty members from the Alliance of Researchers in Aging (ARIA) at Texas State University will return to the Price Center on February. 16 at 1 p.m. for their second workshop offering on Aging Well. The new offering will cover: Healthy living habits, Detecting falls in real-world settings, Memory changes with age, and Strategies to improve cognitive health.  The event is free and open to the public. ASSB Returns with Swing More Amore’ Concert and Dance Feb. 25

Aquarena Springs Symphonic Band will return for their first concert of the year SWING MORE AMORE’ on Feb. 25 at 5:00 pm. AMORE’ will transport you to a time of dance and romance, worldly travels, and slight tastes of foreign cuisine. You may leave craving Italian, remembering days of love, or stepping to some smooth tunes.

 

Seating will be set up a little differently for this concert to allow for attendees to dance to the music.Compositions will be classical and operatic, flavorful, and bold, suave, and sincere. As usual the band will have you leaving with a melody in your heart and a smile on your face.Seating is limited, and reservations are recommended by contacting the Price Center & Garden at 512-392-2900. (A $10 donation is suggested at the door, although not required.)





The Female Gaze Call for Art Set for Feb. 27, 28

The Price Center’s Arts Committee is putting together its 6th annual all-women’s

art show in honor of International Women’s Day. The show is open to all area female artists and those who identify as female. The theme for this years’ show is The Female Gaze: How we See The World. Works may be submitted Tues. and Wed, Feb 27 and 28 from 10-5.
