"BIG SMAL Show" Shinning Now in Price Center Art Galleries

The San Marcos Art League’s new member exhibition: The BIG SMAL Show, is a colorful and engaging exhibit featuring a diverse and eclectic mix of media, subjects, and artistic techniques on display now at the Price Center & Garden. A total of 62 participating artists joined the effort this year -- 21 of whom are first time exhibitors at the Center. Ninety-two original artworks make up the show and submitting artists range in age from nine to seventy-somethings. The show hangs now through Aug. 27 throughout the first-floor gallery venues.

The BIG SMAL Show is open to the public daily. A Brown Bag Artists Talk, a newer addition to shows at the Center for showing artists, is set for Aug. 4 and a public Closing Reception, featuring music, refreshments, and an opportunity to meet with many of the artists, is set for Aug. 25 from 6-8 pm.

“This is the third year for the League to exhibit at the Center,” said Clay DeStefano, executive director. “And the shows just keep getting better and better,” he adds. Unique sculptures, fiber art, stained glass, mosaics, and assemblage works add whimsy and humor to more traditional paintings and illustrations in the BIG Show.

The Price Center Arts Committee arranges, curates, and hangs community art shows on a bi-monthly basis with funding in part provided through a grant from the San Marcos Arts Commission.
