The Secret Life of Lance Letscher Slated for First Tuesday SMTX Film August 5

The Secret Life of Lance Letscher is a deeply personal and psychological portrait of internationally known, and Austin based, collage artist Lance Letscher. Told through memories of trauma and triumph, the film provides a doorway into Letscher’s profound insights on creativity, the subconscious, work ethic and spirituality. Through his intricate artistic process, we witness the artist’s unwavering determination to stay in the moment—free of mind, thought and preconception. Featuring detailed images of more than a hundred of his collages, sculptures, and installations, viewers are offered a visual feast while gaining intimate access into Letscher’s methodical techniques and brilliant mind. The Big SMAL Show Closing Reception Set for Aug. 20

The San Marcos Art League’s (SMAL) sixth annual Members’ Exhibit, The Big SMAL Show, is hanging now through August 23. A Closing Reception for the Show is slated for Wed. Aug. 20 from 6-8 p.m. Enjoy sixty-nine sensational pieces, live music by local favorite Gary Taylor, refreshments, and a chance to meet many of the displaying artists!

 

Next Call for Art Seeking “Symphony of Colors”

The Price Center Arts Committee is soliciting new artworks for its next gallery show titled “Symphony of Colors.” The show is open to all area artists and all types of media are welcome. Artwork must be ready to hang and/or display. Works will be accepted Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 26 & 27 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy Coming to Center Aug. 29 & 30

Step into a night of literary horror as you explore the dark worlds of Edgar Allan Poe. Prepare for an immersive experience that will transport you into the chilling tales of The Cask of Amontillado, Annabel Lee, The Pit and the Pendulum, and The Fall of the House of Usher, each brought to life with eerie detail. As you delve into these chilling tales, savor four expertly crafted cocktails, each paired to enhance the haunting atmosphere of the story it accompanies. With every sip, feel the spine-tingling essence of Poe's masterpieces seep into your soul. A night of gothic elegance and macabre delight awaits.  

The Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy is a 21+ only experience. Reservations are restricted to a small number of guests for a 90-minute experience. The experience takes place for two nights only. Performances at 6 and 8 p.m. both nights.
