Sept Flea Cancelled for Mermaid Parade

4th Flea, downtown San Marcos’ only monthly indoor and outdoor community market, will not be held at the Price Center this month so that organizers and participants can take part in Mermaid Society SMTX’s Sept. 22 downtown Mermaid Parade.

“We encourage all of our regular customers, vendors, and others to come downtown Sat., Sept. 22 to take in the parade and festival that follows,” said Clay DeStefano executive director.

Mermaids now play a daily role at the Price Center, thanks to a 7’ tall statue in the garden that is part of the San Marcos Arts Commission’s new Mermaid March. This month, visitors to the Center will find over a dozen more mermaids and three dozen other original works of art inspired by San Marcos. The Center’s Price Time Dancers will represent the Center in the Mermaid Parade wearing their signature purple shirts featuring dancing mermaid logo.
