First Tuesday SMTX Film ‘Swamp Dogg. . .’ Set for Feb. 3

Swamp Dogg Gets His Pool Painted is a wildly entertaining and fittingly unconventional music doc about convention-defying singer, songwriter & record producer Jerry Williams, aka Swamp Dogg, one of the great cult figures of 20th-century American music whose singular voice and ideas have shaped the history not merely of soul music, but of country, hip-hop & other genres.

Lost River Film Fest is Back

February 5- 8!

Enticing a few hundred out-of-town filmmakers and film lovers to Hays County every year since 2017, the popular, non-profit Lost River Film Fest has announced its schedule of new, independent films to be shown February 5-8 at the Price Center, thanks to generous support from the San Marcos Arts Commission.

Opening Night always consists of a film shot in the San Marcos area; this year, on its 50th anniversary, LEADBELLY kicks off the festival: a stunning biopic of blues icon Huddie Ledbetter, whose prowess for soulful, original music famously won him his freedom from chain gang imprisonment. The film was shot in the mid-1970s around San Marcos, Fentress and Uhland.

The fest culminates with a 7:15pm screening on Sunday of THE INQUISITOR, the new biography of trailblazing stateswoman Barbara Jordan.

Visit www.TheLostRiverFilmFest.org for a complete list of films and a chance to buy tickets in advance. Price Center members can enjoy a 20% discount on badge and ticket purchases by using the code "PriceCenter”.

Live at Price Returns Feb 10 with Willow Creek Band

Our seasonal music series -- Live at Price -- returns for its 3-month spring run Feb. 10 with the Willow Creek Band. The Band’s performances are a mixed bag of tunes that highlight differing tempos, harmony vocals, instrumental interpretations, and are arranged to give the audience an eclectic live music experience.

The focus of this band is classic Americana material from artists such as Guy Clark, Towns Van Zandt, Robert Earl Keen, Rodney Crowell, John Hiatt, along with a healthy dose of original material written by band members and several other local song writers.

Live at Price concerts are curated and produced by Price Center light, sound, and projection engineer Dave Nicosia with funding assistance from the San Marcos Arts Commission and the support of the Price Center. The concerts are performed in the 1910 Ballroom of the Price Center at 222 W. San Antonio St., San Marcos. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased in advance or at the Door.
