PRICE CENTER CONTINUES RAISING FUNDS THROUGH SALE OF UNUSED FURNISHINGS & UNIQUE DONATED TREASUR

Downtown’s Price Center has used the ongoing COVID closure to re-evaluate its venues and facility utilization trends over the past few years to determine what furnishings and equipment are necessary today to best meet the Center’s mission and service needs. As a result, selected items from 20 years of donated furniture, equipment, and a wide variety of items -- no longer in use -- are being sold as part of an ongoing fundraiser.

“We gratefully acknowledge the generous donations of funds and furnishings to help equip and support our operations over the past 20 years,” said Clay DeStefano, executive director. “And now, certain items from our collection can be purchased to live another much-loved life, and give back to the Center yet again via the sale proceeds,” he added.

The Center began selling selected furnishings and donated items for fundraising purposes during its monthly San Mercado community market last year. That effort, and earlier sales this year, have already helped raise more than $2,000 towards the Center’s operating fund and will continue when San Mercado resumes after full re-opening.

In the meantime, the Center is offering an opportunity to shop and buy certain days and times of the week during the closure. Masked shoppers are welcome to stop by the Center at 222 W. San Antonio St. Mon., Wed., and Fri. from 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. No more than 5 shoppers will be allowed at once. Items are cash and carry and all proceeds benefit Price Center.

Larger furniture items currently for sale include two large vintage pews, an executive desk, TV armoire, antique dining tables and chairs, small tables, and an antique brass bed. Shoppers are also able to peruse the historic 1893 Room filled with unique finds, including architectural salvage, tools, hardware, art, housewares, glass and dishware, home décor, collectibles, and more. Everything is priced to sell.

All of the items pictured here are available to purchase.

The Center is also using the downtime to give the first floor a much-needed facelift with fresh paint and is exploring options to replace the first floor carpeting as well.
