Members, and the benefits membership, will be the focus of the Greater San Marcos Area Seniors Association’s (GSMASA) Price Center Open House & Annual Meeting slated for Thurs., May 30 from 5:30 – 7 p.m. The formal business meeting and election of officers will begin at 6:15 p.m. following a social reception and showcase of dues-paying members’ art and performances from 5:30 – 6:15 p.m. The event is free, open to all, and light refreshments will be served.
Attendees will enjoy the live piano playing of local visual artist and musical performer Gav Sears – a Price Center regular -- along with hors d’oeuvres, wine, and a fresh new art show by a number of Price Center members in the Center’s Tea Room. More visual art displays throughout the facility feature quilts and porcelain arts made by members of the Center who create and display work there regularly.
The Annual Meeting portion of the program will begin following the 6:00 p.m. performance in the 1910 Room by more dues-paying members who are regular participants in the Center’s own Community Dance (ComDance) classes. The Price Time Dancers’ performance will include music from another Price Center member and regular – singer, songwriter, and visual artist Tracy Weinberg.
The Annual Meeting, which will begin at 6:15, will include a 2018 President’s Report by GSMASA board president by Marianne Reese, followed by a financial report by treasurer Lu Montondon, and an update on ongoing and upcoming programs and activities at the Center by executive director Clay DeStefano. Lastly, an election of officers will conclude the formal meeting portion of the event. Current members, potential members and friends of each are encouraged to join the event and consider becoming dues paying members.
“Dues paying members and private donors have played a major role in the creation of, and growth of, the Price Center since its inception” said DeStefano. “Today, more than ever, we need more folks to join our efforts as dues paying members and/or donors to help ensure we can continue serving the greater San Marcos community,” he added.
