VETERANS, YOUTH, ART FOCUS OF THIS THIRD THURSDAY @ THE CENTER

The Price Center is honoring veterans this Third Thursday from 6-9 p.m. with more than a dozen Profiles of local Veterans by 5th graders from Crockett and Hernandez Elementary Schools and a live musical performance by the Heart of Texas Chorus beginning at 6:45. Additional new art displays by SMCISD K-12 and Pre-K students along with the opening of a new show of interpretations of Fall and Winter Holiday Traditions are also among the highlights. As always, the event is free, open to all and light refreshments will be served.

Each year 5th grade students interview a veteran in their lives and create an oral and visual profile on him/her. The impressive display of 19 profiles is on display in the Center’s historic 1893 Room. New art from pre-K though 12 students is also on display in the 1910 Room.

The Center will also host an opening reception for the artists behind a new show of more than two dozen unusual and original works of art now on display through early January in the Tea Room. The show features a variety of media, artists and subjects inspired by Fall and Winter Holiday traditions. Most of the works are for sale. A variety of local Pop-Up art vendors will also be present and selling art ideal for your seasonal gift giving.

Guests to the Price Center can easily stroll to any number of the other participating sites downtown to take in more art, live music, and more. Simply look for the Third Thursday Downtown Walkabout seal or visit downtownsanmarcos.org or @smtxthirdthursday on Facebook.
