“The Language Women Speak” Making Beautiful Noise at Price Center

A new art show titled “The Language Women Speak,” consisting of 151 works of original art created exclusively by women throughout the Central Texas region, will be the focus of an afternoon reception on International Women’s Day, Sunday, March 8 at the Price Center from 3 – 5 p.m. in downtown San Marcos. The reception is free, open to the public, and guests are encouraged to wear something white in honor of the 100th Anniversary the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote. Silent Art Session Planned for Next Making It Class at Price Center

The March 3 offering of the new ‘Making It’ classes at the Price Center is a special one focusing on meditative art via a silent art creation session. Local artist Veronique Hahn will lead an interactive art group activity during which participants will create a mixed media piece while serving as one another’s support and creative consultant by silently guiding and suggesting to their fellow artists what they could do and change/add to their art by showing them on a piece of paper or another non-verbal means. Spirit Doll Workshop Series Coming to Price Center in March

Local artists Earlene Graham and Cathy Sparks are teaming up to offer a 3-week afternoon workshop series focusing on making Spirit Dolls at the Price Center in March. Participants will create a theme, choose materials and create their doll from materials provided at the workshop. Individual makers may also bring materials that hold meaning for them and their doll.
