APRIL 27TH SAN MERCADO PROMISES A TRUE MULTI-CULTURAL CELEBRATION

From celebrating World Tai Chi & Qigong Day to Mariachi and Folklorico performances in honor of Cinco de Mayo, to a unique variety of vendor booths, to new art displays, to a chance to tour the beautiful and historic venues and garden of the Price Center, the April installment of San Mercado at the Price Center promises a great, culturally-diverse time for all. Two New Creative Workshops Coming

The LifeLong Learning Organization of San Marcos (LLL) and Price Center are teaming up again with local artist Michael Hannon to present two new, six-week workshops beginning next month. The History of Writing and Visual Arts in China and Chinese Brush Painting with Emphasis on Color will begin 6 week runs beginning May 6 and 7 respectively. Both workshops require advance registration, payment of a small fee, and, in the case of the Bruch Painting, certain tools/materials to participate. The History of Writing and Visual Arts in China will present an historical perspective of the relationship between writing and pictures in the Chinese, Japanese and Korean fine art traditions. MIMOSA BRUNCH BUFFET OFFERED EASTER SUNDAY AT PRICE CENTER

The Price Center’s in-house catering chef, Ray Abazi, will again be offering a special Mimosa Brunch Buffet on Easter Sunday from 10:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the Tea Room. Baked, Glazed Ham will be among the star attractions along with many of Chef’s more popular items, including fresh salads, Scrambled Eggs, Rosemary Chicken, Tilapia Florentine topped with Shrimp, and a complimentary Mimosa, coffee, tea and dessert. PARTICIPATORY DATA DRAWING WORKSHOP COMING TO PRICE CTR

A new model of participatory drawing class will premiere via a two-part workshop at the Price Center April 26 and 29. “Sharing Your Stories in the Digital Environment” will be offered in two, 2-hour sessions by Assistant Professor of Communication Design for Texas State’s School of Design MiHyun Kim from 2 -4 p.m. in the Center’s 1910 Room. Class size is limited and a small fee is required. The digital environment provides a unique space and platform for participants to share and visualize their stores collectively and simultaneously in real time.
