PRICE CTR SEEKING HOLIDAY ART FOCUSED ON WORLDWIDE TRADITIONS

For the second year in a row, the Price Center is seeking local artists’ work inspired by fall and winter holiday traditions from around the world. A selection of submitted art will hang throughout the Center from mid-November until early January as part of the facility’s traditional holiday season displays. “We had a terrific show based on this theme last year,” said Clay DeStefano executive director. “And now, with so many more artists showing regularly at the Center, we anticipate an even better one this year.” DeStefano, who serves as the primary curator for the shows, goes on to explain the theme is intentionally broad to provide artists with a way to express themselves beyond tradition

Federal Courts, Chinese Brush Painting & Book Binding Workshops Coming Soon

The LifeLong Learning Organization of San Marcos (LLL) and Price Center are teaming up again to present three new workshops beginning next month. Dr. Kenneth Ward, a Texas State professor of political science and Michael Hannon, local calligrapher, poet, and illuminator, will each teach the programs beginning in Oct. Ward will lead a five-week workshop on the Federal Court System and Landmark US Supreme Court Cases beginning Oct. 4. Hannon will teach two separate 6-week workshops exploring Chinese Brush Painting and Book Binding beginning Oct. 8 & 9 respectively. Sept Flea Cancelled for Mermaid Parade

4th Flea, downtown San Marcos’ only monthly indoor and outdoor community market, will not be held at the Price Center this month so that organizers and participants can take part in Mermaid Society SMTX’s Sept. 22 downtown Mermaid Parade. “We encourage all of our regular customers, vendors, and others to come downtown Sat., Sept. 22 to take in the parade and festival that follows,” said Clay DeStefano executive director. Mermaid Art, One Foot in the Floodplain, more to Welcome Guests of Third Thurs

San Marcos-centric art, including more than a dozen interpretations of our beloved mermaids, live music by One Foot in the Floodplain, a pop-up art market, and complimentary refreshments will engage and entertain visitors to Third Thursday activities on Sept. 20 at the Price Center.
