FLEA OFFERING DISCOUNTED BOOTHS FOR LOCAL ARTSISTS & MAKERS

4th Flea, downtown San Marcos’ only monthly indoor and outdoor community market, will take place Saturday, August 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Price Center. This month, the Center is offering a 25% discount to booth vendors who are artists or makers. Each month vendors and participants enjoy a wide array of items such as traditional furniture, clothing and household items to food, custom artwork, plants, one-of-a-kind creations, unique junk, and more. Admission is free and open to all. San Marvelous Art, Group Sing-Along, focus of this Third Thurs @ Price Ctr

Two distinctly San Marcos art shows, live music, a pop-up art market, and a community sing-along will entertain and engage visitors to Third Thursday activities this week at the Price Center. As always, the Center’s events will run from 6-9 p.m., are free, open to all, and complimentary refreshments will be served. Musical performances will kick off on the Ron & Marie Jager Theatre stage in the 1910 Room with Gretchen and the Scotts with their fabulous original tunes, featuring Gretchen & Scott McMahon and Scott Wade. GSMASA Board Sets New Rates for Price Center Use

The Greater San Marcos Area Seniors Association (GSMASA) Board of Directors approved an increase in facility rental rates and implemented two new discount policies at their Aug. 9 Board Meeting. The new rates, which will take effect Sept. 1, reflect the first increase in any Price Center fees in more than three years. The board also created a standard discount rate for non-profit and/or repeat guests. “We looked at all the available venues throughout San Marcos and felt our rates were a low for what we were offering, said Dale Kelley, GSMASA Board Chair. “The minor adjustments are still very affordable, but come closer to reflecting the going rates for comparable venues,” he added.
