

LEGO ROBOTICS BOOT CAMP COMING TO CENTER IN AUGUST
Learning Fun 101 is bringing its LEGO® Boot Camp focusing on Engineering and Robotics to the Price Center August 6-10 for area children aged 4-14. The five-day camp will run from 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. and preregistration is required. The Camp is developmentally appropriate for STEAM robotics education. While the installation of 10 new Mermaid sculptures throughout downtown is certainly revving up the momentum and popularity of Mermaids in town, each of the 7’ forms is also teaching and informing locals and visitors alike about the city’s history, culture and most precious resources. PIANO MUSIC, 3-D ART FOCUS OF NEXT WEEK'S THIRD THURSDAY @ CENTER
Four different piano players will take turns entertaining visitors to the next week’s Third Thursday activities at the Price Center. Guests may also enjoy a new summer-inspired quilt show and the unique, 3-D Pop-Up Card Art by local artist and poet Michael Hannon. As always, the Center’s activities will run from 6-9 p.m., are free, open to all, and complimentary refreshments will be served. PAPER ENGINEERING, POETRY WORKSHOPS BEGINNING IN AUG
Based on the success of their inaugural partnership, the LifeLong Learning Organization of San Marcos (LLL) and Price Center are teaming up again to present two more workshops featuring local calligrapher, poet, and illuminator Michael Hannon beginning Aug. 6 & 7. Hannon will teach two separate 6-week workshops exploring paper engineering and poetry writing respectively. Both workshops require advance registration and payment of a small fee. Texas State, Price Center Partnering to Offer New Senior Exercise Program
Texas State University and The Price Center in San Marcos have partnered for “Connect Across Generations,” an exercise study for seniors that will examine the health impact of yoga or Tai Chi participation. Beginning in September, individuals 65 years or older will be recruited to attend either a Tai Chi or chair yoga class once a week during an 8-week period. BEE FRIENDS CELEBRATE 10 YEARS
Bee Friends, a local quilting bee that formed and quilts at the Price Center, celebrated their 10th Anniversary at the Center with a lunch followed by cake and ice cream on Thursday, June 28. The lively group gathered for a day of quilting, socializing and celebrating in the room they helped inspire, equip and fund – today known as the Multi-Purpose Room. Bee co-founders Rouye Reese and Martise Cooper reflected on the progress of the group and the Center since their startup.
