4th Flea set for this Saturday

4th Flea, downtown San Marcos’ only monthly indoor and outdoor community flea market, is set to take place this Saturday, April. 28, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Price Center. Vendors already signed on include a “multi-family yard sale” fundraiser hosted by the Bluebonnet Lions Club with indoor and outdoor booths. In addition, other vendors will be selling everything from jewelry and fashion accessories, to household items, fridge pickles, handmade fabric arts, plants, unique collectible finds, and artwork. 6 Week Beginning Gothic Calligraphy with Illumination Workshop Starts May 9

The LifeLong Learning Organization of San Marcos (LLL) and Price Center are teaming up to present local calligrapher, poet, and illuminator Michael Hannon’s workshop on Gothic calligraphy and illumination beginning May 9. The workshop has a small fee and requires participants to bring in certain supplies along with a favorite quote, phrase or passage to transform into a completed work of calligraphy with illumination. “The beauty of medieval manuscripts is strangely enchanting on so many levels,” said Dr. Marianne Reese, LLL founder. “We’re delighted to be showcasing Michael, whose work in this area over the past 30 years is quite moving.” The Workshop will be offered every Wednesday from 10

The Price Center will join nearly two dozen other downtown galleries, shops, eateries, watering holes, and non-profit organizations to present the Downtown Association SMTX’s April installment of the Third Thursday Downtown Walkabout. Live music, pop-up markets and gallery shows, a film showing, free pedicabs, business of the month, door prizes and lots of retail and food and beverage specials are among the highlights planned for the April 19th event.
