VETERANS DAY EVENT GIVES VOICE TO THE STORIES OF LOCAL VETS, FAMILIES

As we honor their service this Veterans Day, we should also take a moment to hear their voices. On Nov. 10, veterans and their families will come together at the Price Center in San Marcos to share their personal stories about service, sacrifice, and how their experiences have shaped the way they live their lives. “The Veteran’s Voice Project” is organized by Down South Word of Mouth (DSWM), which facilitates free storytelling workshops and produces live storytelling events for various populations in Central Texas. “This evening will be about how their experience changed their perspective on the world around them, how they view themselves, and how their service transformed them in some way,”

This month’s 4th Flea, San Marcos’ only monthly downtown community market, will include trick-or-treating from Noon – 3 p.m. The monthly Market takes place outdoors in the Garden and inside the historic Price Center in downtown San Marcos from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. A limited number of indoor and outdoor booth spaces are still available. “It’ll be a fun, busy and Halloween-inspired day at the Center,” said Clay DeStefano. “We’ll also have two performances of ‘The Bad Seed’ that day, including a 2:30 Matinee,” he added. The Bad Seed Opens this Thursday

The Price Center is the place to be this Thursday night for the opening of the Black Diamond Cabaret Theatre’s presentation of The Bad Seed. The classic 1950s black and white thriller based on a story by Maxwell Anderson is considered an icon in the suspense thriller genre and will run through Nov. 5 with both evening and matinee performances. The production marks the 5th season of the Black Diamond Cabaret Theatre’s fall productions at the Price Center. The Black Diamond Cabaret Theatre will present its fall production just in time for Halloween, with the classic thriller, The Bad Seed, opening Thurs., Oct. 26, at 7:30 p.m. in the historic 1910 Room at the Price Center in downtown San Marcos. COMDANCE TO FEATURE 'DANCE SAMPLER' NEXT 3-WEEKS

Beginning tomorrow, the Price Center will be presenting a special, 3-week series of free dance classes for the community. Guest teachers Peggy Huddleston, Sybil Childers. and Carolyn Hansen will be presenting Square Dance, Line Dance and Clogging classes Oct. 10, 17 and 24 respectively to anyone who wants to give these dances a try. All skill levels are welcome. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet three terrific teachers and experience their various styles! PEGGY HUDDLESTON: Square Dance Peggy Huddleston is a hugely popular dance teacher from the Wimberley area. She recently retired from teaching line dance, square dance, clogging, and jazz to simply dancing and performing for pleasure.
