DuBois 10 Pop Art Event Set for this Sat

A total of 18 artists will be featured as the Price Center hosts the DuBois Gallery 10, a local pop-up art event, this Saturday, Sept. 30, from 5-9 p.m. All work displayed in the show is for sale. The event is free, open to the public, and will include complimentary hors d’oeuvres and wine. This latest installment of the DuBois Gallery will feature alumni artists Rene Perez, Tony Belmonte, Thom Rogers, Mat Jobson, Lisa McPike Smith, Norman Bean, Patrick Steger, John Roof, Thomas Myers, K Knadle, Courtney Crayton, David Davis, and Darin Wood. 4th FLEA Set for this Sat @ Ctr

4th Flea, San Marcos’ only monthly community flea market, will be held this Sat., Sept. 23, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. The monthly Market takes place outdoors in the Garden and inside the historic Price Center in downtown San Marcos. A limited number of indoor and outdoor booth spaces are still available. “Downtown has been hopping since the students returned and the fall event season began,” said Clay DeStefano, Price Center executive director. “We look forward to the energy spilling into the Flea.” More than a dozen vendors have already signed on for the event, including offerings of children’s books, essential oils, plants, furniture, jewelry, art, crafts, and home accessories. 4th Flea booths

CALL FOR ART: HOLIDAY TRADITIONS FROM AROUND THE WORLD

Holiday traditions vary based on one’s faith and origin and this coming holiday season, the Price Center wants to expand its traditional annual displays to include works of art that highlight and celebrate holiday traditions from around the world. A selection of submitted art will hang throughout the Center from mid-November till early January as part of the Center’s traditional holiday season offering. “There are so many holidays celebrated around the world between the traditional American Thanksgiving and the New Year,” said Veronique Hahn, local artist and inspiration for the upcoming show. “These works are a wonderful way to highlight different traditions and teach others how to better

Hurricane Recovery Benefit Concert set for Fri., Sept. 22 @ Center

As hurricane recovery efforts continue all along the Texas coast, Florida and the Caribbean, many in Hays County want to do more to help. The Price Center is teaming up with local performer, director, and producer Lee Colee’, and The Salvation Army of Hays County to put on a Hurricane Harvey Benefit Concert Friday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. in the Center’s historic 1910 Room. “As a resident of Wimberley, I saw firsthand what it takes to rebuild and recover from a natural disaster after the Memorial Weekend Floods two years ago here,” said Colee’. “Everyone has a talent to bring to the recovery effort and in our case, we’re applying our performing talents to put on a show that will help boost everyo

HEALTHY ACTIVITY NOW INCLUDES CLOGGING @ PRICE CENTER

Fresh on the heels of recently expanded Zumba, Tai Chi, and Yoga offerings, the Price Center is pleased to announce the addition of another dance-related class that will focus on clogging. Carolyn Hanson, a new resident in San Marcos, will be teaching beginning and intermediate clogging at a free class every Monday and Wednesday from 10:15-11:15 a.m. at the Center beginning Sept. 13. “I have found clogging to be so helpful for my memory, coordination, balance and overall brain function, said Hanson. “I know there are plenty of folks around here who would benefit as much as I have,” she added.
