NHDD Talk Set for April 4 at Price Center

CTMC Hospice is teaming up with various partners, including the Price Center to offer several free presentations and a documentary about advance directives and other appropriate paperwork to complete for one’s medical and end-of-life wishes. The classes are part of the observance of National Healthcare Decisions Day (NHDD). The Price Center will host a talk on Tues., April 6 at 5 p.m. in its Multi-Purpose Room, to help begin the dialogue. Licensed Clinical Social Workers from CTMC Hospice will speak. Brisket Plate Fundraiser & Two Free Western Swing Concerts set for April 8

The Price Center will host two free, outdoor, Western Swing concerts in its Garden on Sat., April 8 as part of the annual Swing on the Square Festivities April 7-9 in downtown San Marcos. The first performance from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. will feature Larry Lange and the Lone Star Troubadours. The Hot Texas Swing Band will take the stage from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. In addition, Hays County Constable David Peterson will be selling his famous BBQ Brisket Plates from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. and again from 3:30 – 6 p.m. for $8 including all the usual trimmings. San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District (SMICSD) is celebrating Youth Art Month with the works of a multitude of students displayed in a K-12 Visual Arts Show in the Price Center’s historic 1893 Room. The show will conclude with a closing reception honoring the students from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., Thurs., March 30. The event is free, open to the public. The show features a wide variety of works from watercolor to graphic design pieces. “We are rotating new art throughout the Center regularly now, but to have the works of San Marcos students brings a whole new element of fun and creativity that we haven’t hosted before,” explains Clay DeStefano, executive director of the Price Center.

4th Flea set for this Sat.

4th Flea, downtown San Marcos’ only monthly community flea market, is set to take place this Sat., March 25 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Garden of the Price Center at 222 W. San Antonio St. “Our lawn has sunny and shaded areas for our vendors, and our garden is starting to bloom so come look around, shop, and relax,” said Clay DeStefano, Price Center executive director. “Our vendors are always so diverse, and attendees rarely leave empty handed.” 4th Flea booths are still available on first come, first served basis for $20 for a space on our front lawn. More Than 100 Art Works Set to Shine at 3rd Thurs. Walkabout

This month’s 3rd Thursday Downtown Walkabout activities at the Price Center will spotlight more than 100 locally produced, original creations, including the abstract paintings and macro photographs of two featured artists with solo shows opening. In addition, more than 20 SMCISD Youth Art Month K-12 works are on display in the Center’s historic 1893 Room. The Price Center will again welcome the Hands of Hope Annual Tea ‘n More fundraiser on Sat., March 25. The beloved annual fundraiser for Hands of Hope, an ecumenical ministry providing under-educated and disadvantaged women an educational program, consists of a high tea, more than 2 dozen beautifully adorned tables set by table hostesses, a fashion show put on by Chico’s and a silent auction. Tickets are available now and are accompanied by a suggested $20 donation.
