Center Celebrating Mermaid SMTX in a Variety of Ways

Beginning with separate costume-making and crown-making workshops, the Price Center will offer a variety of programs and activities as part of the inaugural Mermaid Week SMTX festivities. On Sept.2, the Center will team up with the San Marcos River Foundation to offer a workshop on making endangered species costumes for the Mermaid Parade. On the 6th, which is also International Mermaid Day, the Center will host the Mermaid Society for a Mermaid Crown Making workshop and on the 11th three separate Mermaid inspired activities, along with its new weekly brunch buffet will be featured. 1st Sunday Brunch Going Weekly Sept. 11

The Price Center’s 1st Sunday Brunch Buffet on Aug. 7 was a resounding success; so much so, in fact, that rather than only offering it on the first Sunday of the month, they’ve decided to make it weekly beginning Sunday, Sept. 11. Nearly 100 people stopped in to the Center’s Tea Room between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. during its debut on Aug. 7 to check out the new offering. 'After the Storm' Quilt to Provide Comfort, Charity

Bee Friends, a local quilting bee, was inspired to create a quilt after the horrific floods of the Memorial Day holiday weekend of 2015 titled “After the Storm.” The unique group quilt features an inspirational and hope-filled image of the dawn of a new day over water along with two “hidden mermaids” embedded in the decorative quilting. The Bee has donated the quilt to be raffled off as a benefit for the Price Center between now and Sept. 17 where the winner will be announced from the stage of the Mermaid Splash.
